Selma Baccari

Selma Baccari is a Senior Director in the Expert Services practice of Kroll, based in Paris. She acts as an expert witness and provides support on litigation and international arbitration matters. Her areas of expertise lie in damages assessment, financial auditing and forensic services. Prior to joining Kroll, Selma served as a Forensic Services Director at PwC in France. She started her career in the audit practice of Mazars (Paris), where she gained experience of auditing French and international companies. After 3 years in auditing, Selma has specialized for 11 years in litigation support, working mainly on damages assessment assignments, and acting as an expert witness on international arbitration cases (ICSID, ICC, Ad hoc). She also regularly acts as a financial expert on French domestic litigation cases. Selma’s work covers a variety of sectors (e.g. construction, transportation, distribution, hospitality, telecoms).

- Acted as expert witness and assisted a North African state company in an ICC arbitration in the oil and gas sector: review and rebuttal of a claim raised by a European contractor and assessment of a counterclaim.
- Acted as expert witness and assisted a French company in an ICC arbitration in the review and rebuttal of a claim raised by a supplier and in the assessment of a counterclaim, in the context of a dispute related to the construction of a new airport terminal.
- Assisted a Central African state in an ICSID arbitration in the review and rebuttal of a claim raised by investors, in the context of a dispute related to the grant of mining permits.
- Assisted a West African State in an ICSID arbitration in the review and rebuttal of a claim raised by private investors in the hospitality industry.
- Acting as expert witness and assisting an Asian company in an ad hoc arbitration in the assessment of its claim, in the context of a construction dispute in North Africa.
- Acting as expert witness and assisting an African company in the agricultural sector, in a CCJA arbitration on the assessment of its damage following the cancellation of a loan by a major regional African bank.
- Selma is a member of the ICC Arbitration and ADR Tunisian Commission and of the Standing Committee of the ICC International Center for ADR. Her mandate extends for three years until 2027.
- Selma is also a member of the CFA-40 (Comité Français de l’Arbitrage under 40) and of the French Chapter of the CEIA (Club Español e Iberoamericano de Arbitraje).
